                                   The Lent Challenge.

In these hard times, when for a lot of people, money is hard to find, I am pleased to say that the church is going to buck the trend and start giving away money. Yes, you heard me we are going to start giving away money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to invite as many people as possible to take the £10 lent talent challenge*. On Sunday the 19th of February, our treasurers will have in their possession a wad of £10 notes. During the morning service in each of our churches there will be a time when the monies will be passed around, if you feel you wish too you can take £10 away with you and see how much you can turn it into. Then on Easter Sunday you can bring back the original £10 pounds and any profits you have made from it.

The joy of this challenge is that it works on many levels, it can and I hope does, become a mission minded family event, where people of all ages and abilities can get involved. My hope and desire is that we do not just hold events that continue to empty the pockets of our brothers and sisters in church, but use the £10 to reach out into our communities, schools, and workplaces and share our faith by finding ingenious ways of investing the £10. (For an example Ann-Marie last year raised £60 just from baking Easter biscuits and selling them at her workplace).

You will have 6-7 weeks to use what the Lord has given you. So get baking, dieting, running, anything as long as it’s legal go for it.

BE BOLD, BE STRONG FOR THE LORD THY GOD IS WITH YOU!

Iain.

*The idea of the lent challenge is taken from the parable of the talents that Jesus speaks of in Matthew 25:14-30; Luke 19:12-28
